(SQAUK) – In an unexpected twist to the daily mail delivery routine, an Ohio postal worker was in the fast lane, racing a Ford Mustang at speeds exceeding 100 mph. The incident, which took place on State Route 20, west of Fremont, has left the community in disbelief and sparked a conversation about road safety.
Drew Brown, a 28-year-old United States Postal Service (USPS) employee, was caught on a Sandusky County sheriff’s deputy’s body camera speeding down the highway in her mail van. The deputy clocked her at a staggering 105 mph, a full 45 mph over the posted speed limit.
The body camera footage shows the deputy’s surprise as he pulls over the USPS van and questions Brown about her high-speed driving. “Is there a reason you’re going over 100?” he asks. Brown’s response, “I didn’t realize that I was going that fast,” does little to explain the situation.
This wasn’t Brown’s first brush with traffic violations. With a history of three license suspensions and four driving convictions, including three for speeding, the postal worker’s need for speed seems to be a recurring theme.
The U.S. Postal Service has confirmed that Drew Brown is an employee and that the incident is under investigation. However, the service refrained from commenting further on the personnel matter.
Sheriff Chris Hilton has voiced his concerns about Brown’s recklessness. He stated that “her behavior is just unsafe for the entire community,” raising questions about the responsibilities of those entrusted with public service vehicles.
After the intense event, the community is now reflecting on the consequences of a public servant’s reckless actions. As the USPS conducts its internal investigation, the message is clear: no one wins in a race against the law, especially regarding road safety.
