It has been reported that military and federal investigators searched Arnu’s homes in Las Vegas and the small desert town of Rachel. Arnu believes the search was carried out with excessive force by government agents who were overzealous and that it was intended to silence the Area 51 research community. During the raid, agents seized several items, including cell phones, memory sticks, backup drives, camera equipment worth nearly $10,000, and a drone.
Arnu was kept outside while agents searched his house, with the reason for the search being related to images that were posted on his Area 51 website. At the same time, his girlfriend was also detained during a raid on their Las Vegas residence.
The FBI and the Air Force Office of Special Investigations (AFOSI) have conducted raids, but neither agency has provided details about the investigation. Lt. Col. Bryon McGarry, the Nellis Air Force Base public affairs chief, confirmed the searches but offered no further information. The FBI has declined to comment, and the AFOSI hasn’t responded to email messages yet.
Arnu expressed confusion regarding the charges and seizure of his property, stating he had no clear understanding of the accusations or reasons behind the seizure.
The Dreamland Resort community and other Area 51 enthusiasts have come together to support Arnu despite concerns that his freedom of speech and inquiry into Area 51 activities are being curtailed. Following the raids, the website was updated with a new post humorously dubbed “Endorsed by the FBI and USAF OSI.”
